Aloha Means Goodbye

Also next weekend, which I won't be able to attend due to my work schedule, is my brother's going away party.   I received an email for this event recently and almost started crying.  My brother is moving to Hawaii!
I'm so excited for him and proud that he is making this major leap.  He's doing something he wants to do and I know he will not regret it.  I made the move to NYC and that was so challenging for me.  I think it will be hard for him at first but I know he will be glad he got to do it.  I'm going to plan a visit.  I need to get in some scuba time.

I love my brothers equally and don't think I could have possibly become the woman (eek!) I am today without them.  They truly have been my rock growing up and I am so thankful to have them in my life.  I don't know how I'll handle being 240miles away from one and 5000 miles from the other.  I am so proud of both of them and wish and pray that they will be happy in life.

Anyway I just wanted to post most of the invitation (with details edited out) because my brother really is a wonderful writer.  He should start a blog to document his new island life and experiences (hint hint).  I do wish quite often that I weren't so math and science oriented because it would be nice to have the vocabulary and literary poise and creativity of my two amazing brothers.

"But if you come with growing things, and good food and better ideas, if you come with gods that will sustain you, and if you are willing to work until the swimming head and the aching arms can stand no more, then you can gain entrance to this miraculous crucible where the units of nature are free to develop according to their own capacities and desires.  On these harsh terms the islands waited."

Aloha is just a sip away, so by popular demand, please come and celebrate my permanent departure to the Hawai'ian Islands on the evening of *.  As most of you are aware, I am taking my talents to Waikiki Beach in less than three weeks, and you are cordially invited to our luau/bacchanalia - beginning at * for a pregame of Blue Hawaiis, Mai Tais, kalua pork, pineapple, poi, and other relevant native delicacies at 8pm EST/3pm HAST.  From there, we will embark on a grand voyage, as my Tahitian ancestors did to settle the islands, to {name of bar is associated with Hawaii} in DC (or another TBD bar which serves Longboard Lager on tap).  We will keep you posted of any change to the bar location, but if you need a push, just remember that Eddie Would Go.  Please email myself or the undersigned co-hosts for any questions or details, see you on *, and okole maluna.

P.S. Obviously, Hawai'ian shirts are REQUIRED attire for all in attendance.  This is non-negotiable.
