bow wow

When I was young I was absolutely petrified of dogs.  This was the case until I was about 10 years old.  That's about when I decided I wanted a dog.  We had one for a few years growing up,  we had rescued her from the Montgomery County Shelter.  I've now come to the point where I'm out on my own and oh so badly want a dog.  Of course this is completely irrational.  I work 12 hour shifts so getting a puppy is out of the question.  I live alone, which means the sole caregiver would be me.  Additionally I have no idea where I'll be in the next 3-5 years.  I could end up going to grad school, moving to a different city, switching jobs....who knows.

Despite all of these reasons not to rescue a dog, I can find about a million reasons in my favor of getting one.  I would have to get a breed that is suitable for apartments because I don't have a backyard here in my condo.  Any suggestions?   Check out this website

Of course the smartest thing to do, which I probably will do, is to just wait until I'm a little more settled in a house with a yard and a significant other who is around to help.  I'm open to suggestions though if any of you want to push me either direction.

Ultimately I think I'm just waiting for the day I can get a chocolate lab.  That would be the dog of my dreams.

  1. English Bulldogs are so relaxed they won't even notice you're not home all day, just leave out food and water and set up a place for it to go to the bathroom
